I was recently asked if I would donate some of my work to a silent auction as part of a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis. Flattered by the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to such a great cause, I couldn't refuse. So here's is what I came up with (sorry for the quality of the photo, I had a terrible time with lighting):
Following the title, "Hello, Dolly!", the five 6 x 4" appropriated images are all of various "Dollies" (Dali, technically in the last instance, but at least the phonetics work), each matted and mounted into a solid black frame. Gorgeous, I know, right?
If by any chance you live, or will be visiting Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on May 11th, and you'd like to take some time out of your day to contribute to a good cause, all while enjoying some great food with some fantastic people who likely share your same desire to see an end to Cystic Fibrosis and its terrible effects, here is the Facebook event for more details (you'll need to have a Facebook account to access it).
I highly recommend spending a bit of money at the silent auction, there will be lots of great stuff, much of it donated by local artists like myself. And, if you can manage to fetch the beautiful masterpiece pictured above, I'd say not only did you help out with a good cause, but you also have a pretty safe investment on your hands (after all, I plan on being quite rich and famous some day!).
